17. October 2025 LeMur Srl had the pleasure of participating in theSpace2Tex Workshop held at ESA ESTECin Noordwijk, Netherlands, an event organized by the European Space Agency (ESA) in collaboration with Confindustria Moda Italia and ESA Technology Broker Italy, focused on the challenges of textile applications in the space environment.
The workshop focused on the development of next-generation wearable textile systems for astronaut protection, hygiene, and monitoring, fully compliant with space requirements. Particular attention was given to the potential use of multi-material silicone textile systems, integrating anti-cut and anti-perforation performance, antibacterial and flame-retardant coatings, as well as ferromagnetic functionalities.
Further topics included the development of structural and deployable textile solutions for habitats, shielding, and dust-proof applications. These systems, based on flexible textile substrates, aim to combine flexibility with mechanical strength and environmental resistance, while ensuring airtightness, structural reliability, and thermal insulation.
The intrinsic properties of silicone-based materials—such as biocompatibility, high adhesion, thermal stability, UV resistance, and low-force elastic behavior—were highlighted as key performances for aerospace textile applications.
In this context, LeMur’s muriel ® elastic yarn proves to be particularly suitable for advanced space-related developments.
As a Made-in-Italy product, muriel ® represents a contribution to strengthening European expertise across the textile value chain, supporting technological independence in advanced aerospace textile solutions.
